YAing News: Week of June 26

June is almost over, and summer is in full swing! We’ve had such a fun month full of author interviews, stellar reviews, and fantastic industry opportunities. So! Cozy up with your favourite mug of (iced) tea, and let’s get into all the fun updates here at Young Adulting Review!

YAing Updates

First, let’s start with what’s been going on here at Young Adulting this month! We’ve published some marvellous reviews since I last wrote you. Here’s a recap:

  • “Stewart weaves a brilliant tale that encompasses heartbreak, laughter, and tears, with a hint of mischievousness that is sure to coax a smile out of you. Emmitt embarks on a mission: to locate the anonymous recipients of his sister’s organs and to stitch the parts of her back together.” Srijaa Chatterjee reviews Heart Sister by Michael F. Stewart
  • “Chua’s bold illustrations capture Lala in her bedroom, and children will delight in looking at all of her favourite things. Close-up images of the joy on Lala’s face on nearly every page capture her exuberance as she labels her world with red dots. Children will have fun interacting with this book while counting the salient red dots on each page.” Vanessa Gill reviews My Lala by Thomas King, illus. Charlene Chua
  • “Written by Tita M. Kyrtsakas, he called me kid is a young adult romance novel centered on the relationship between a soon-to-be high school graduate, Clementine, and an upper-year university student, Turner. Their instant connection, formed by their shared love for literature and clever banter, is an interesting – though, at times, lackluster – depiction of relationships that are complicated by age, distance, and the subjectivity of art.” Alicia L’Archevêque reviews he called me kid by Tita M. Kyrtsakes

As always, check back every Tuesday and Thursday for more reviews of upcoming and new releases.
